The short version: expensivesmells.com doesn't use tracking cookies, ad pixels or third-party advertising. You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name or email. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs to keep the site running and secure. Buying merch happens on our separate shop, which has its own privacy policy.

What this policy covers
This policy covers expensivesmells.com (the menu, price index and guides). The merch store at shop.expensivesmells.com is run on Shopify and covered by the shop privacy policy. Links to other websites, including the independent retailers we list and Instagram, are governed by those sites' own policies.

We don't collect payment details, accounts, or precise location on this site, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. The site is for adults 21+ only.
Cookies and local storage
expensivesmells.com sets no tracking or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie (such as __cf_bm or cf_clearance) when it needs to tell humans from bots; these are exempt from consent because the site can't be protected without them.
The shop uses Shopify cookies, including optional analytics and marketing cookies that you can accept or decline in the shop's cookie banner.
How we use and share information
We use the information above only to run, secure and improve the site. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with service providers who process it for us (Cloudflare for hosting and security), or when required by law.
International visitors
We're based in the United States and Cloudflare operates globally, so your data may be processed outside your country. If you're in the EEA or UK, our legal basis for processing technical data is our legitimate interest in operating a secure, working website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)), and for emails it's responding to your request. Cloudflare transfers data under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or US state privacy laws such as those in California, Texas, Colorado or Virginia), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising. Because we hold so little on this site, most requests will be simple. Email expensivesmells@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days (45 days where US state law allows). We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights. If you're in the EEA or UK you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
We honor Global Privacy Control signals. Since this site doesn't sell or share data, there's nothing further to turn off here; the shop's "Your privacy choices" settings cover purchases.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS and uses standard browser security headers. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but we keep what we collect to a minimum so there's little to expose.

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
